Lubec Victorian Vacation Rental
The Victorian is located on the road to West Quoddy Head State Park, the easternmost point of land in the continental
U.S. West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is only 2 miles from the Victorian. South Lubec Beach, a secluded sand beach, sits
behind the house. The Lubec Sand Bar, a Maine wildlife refuge known as an important migratory bird habitat, is just
around the point and is accessable along the shore. To get to the beach, you stroll down a path lined with trees and
beach roses that borders a wonderful wildflower meadow. At the end of the path, there are bench seats and stairs down
onto the beach, where you can sit and take in the 180 degree water and island views. From the shore, you see the
Canadian islands of Campobello and Grand Manan. You also see West Quoddy Head, the easternmost point of land in
the U.S., and on out to open ocean. You look right out at the Lubec Chanel Lighthouse, which is located in the channel
between South Lubec Beach and Campobello Island. From the house you can see the guiding light of the lighthouse
and hear the waves breaking on the beach. The Victorian is "green certified" as an Environmental Leader.
The house retains many of it's original Victorian features—tin ceilings, stained glass windows, beautiful wood work, and
brass hardware. The living room is fully equipped with a new LCDTV, VCR, and HDDVD. There are scores of books by
Maine authors and plenty of board games to keep the family entertained. If you prefer a quiet evening spent in period
style, you can slip into the adjoining parlor and relax on the mahogany daybed in front of the Victorian fireplace and
read or cuddle by the light of antique brass lamps. The kitchen has been updated and offers all modern conveniences
including dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, blender, and a new French Door refrigerator big enough to hold the
family's seafood feast. The old charm of the kitchen has been preserved in the original wood floor, tin ceiling, and
cupboards installed in the '30s when the kitchen was added to the house. The first floor also has a deck and an
entry/sunroom with day bed and small full bath. The bath is equipped with safety grab bars at the toilet and tub.
Upstairs, two large bedrooms provide a queen and full size bed. The queen bedroom faces east and south and
provides a glimpse of the ocean and lets in our famous early rays of dawn. The full bedroom faces west, for those who
prefer to sleep in and catch the golden afternoon sun. The spacious full bath upstairs has been remodeled to
accommodate a washer and dryer and new “right height” Victorian style fixtures. It also offers views of the water.
The outdoor patio area has a gas grill, picnic table, and lounge chairs. The spacious back yard has water views, flower
beds, and plenty of room for the kids and pets to play. NEW FEATURE -- Full House back-up power generator. Stay
warm, cook, bathe, watch TV, use your computer. The generator will kick on automatically when the power goes out.
You do nothing except relax and enjoy your vacation. Your comfort and safety are top priority at The Victorian!
